Orthopaedic Surgeon - Full-time, Permanent, Dunedin Hospital
This is a 1.0 FTE opportunity for an Orthopaedic Consultant with spinal experience as well as general orthopaedics and trauma. The position would suit an orthopaedic surgeon with a minimum of 12 months advanced fellowship training in a recognised spinal surgery unit. The role covers all aspects of spinal surgery including on call paediatric and adult trauma and degenerative and deformity surgery. Orthopaedic Surgeon - Part-time, Permanent, Southland Hospital
This is a 0.8 FTE negotiable to 1.0 FTE opportunity for an Orthopaedic Consultant with experience in upper limb, general orthopaedics and trauma who is willing to influence, lead change within the department and bring their passion and commitment for acute, elective and outpatients care to the fore.

Southland Hospital's Orthopaedic team is currently staffed by six surgeons and provides care for a population of over 136,000 in the lower South Island. As a teaching facility for the University of Otago, the position benefits from involvement with medical and nursing student training, participation in research and many more opportunities.

The successful applicant will need to be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or an equivalent qualification and be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.  Applications are also invited from surgeons who are close to completing fellowships. These two Research Registrar positions comprise 0.5 FTE clinical work as a non-Training Registrar with the remainder of the week protected for academic activity.

Posts may be of 6 or 12 months duration depending on an applicant's goals. Expressions of interest are welcome year-round with interviews generally undertaken in May of the preceding year.
