The New Zealand Spine Society Continuing Orthopaedic Education (COE) meeting, “Getting the Basics Right,” held in Auckland, was an outstanding success. The event was fully subscribed, with delegates highly engaged throughout an extensive and thoughtfully structured programme that delivered a wealth of detailed educational content across a broad range of spinal topics.

The meeting provided an excellent platform for orthopaedic and spine professionals to strengthen foundational principles, share clinical insights, and discuss contemporary approaches to the management of spinal conditions. The high level of interaction and discussion throughout the sessions reflected the enthusiasm and commitment of attendees to ongoing professional development.

Day One concluded with a hands-on workshop session. Eight sawbones stations were set up, allowing delegates to roll up their sleeves and participate in practical exercises focused on precision cutting, technical skill development, and problem-solving supported by expert faculty teaching and guidance.
The NZ Spine Society COE once again demonstrated the value of joining together to learn, collaborate, and advance the standard of care provided to patients with spinal conditions. The success of the meeting highlights the importance of continued education and hands-on training in supporting clinical excellence across Orthopaedics.
