Wishbone Relay: Wellington Ball

Saturday 17 February

Around 200 guests attended the Wellington Black & White Ball at Takina
organised by Atua Fuimaono Asafo  & Sarah Hunter. What a fun night!

The silent auction was well supported & the opportunity to admire or get tactile with both Relay batons (crafted by orthopods David Bartle & Roy Craig) was taken up by many including George Chan below.

The photo booth was a popular opportunity for lots of casual/funny pics and the official photographer
did a great job of immortalising  guests on the Southern Cross photo wall
or later during the dinner & dancing.
Links & full galleries will be available soon.

Perry Turner was an entertaining MC & in the photo below he is introducing Dr Erica Whineray Kelly who recently took over as Southern Cross Healthcare's CMO from Matt Clark. Erica remained perfectly composed, despite Perry's slightly alarming anecdote about when he was her registrar & a tie...

Wellington Band 'Them Lovely Rogues' had many singing along or on the dancefloor nonstop.

Several guests commented how special it felt for them to attend this glittering event.
Surgeons, Allied Health & Industry embraced the Wishbone Relay value of inclusive connections and bought tables for staff & colleagues who perhaps wouldn't typically have attended orthopaedic events.

One of the guests was a young lady on her own who has no connection to orthopaedics, but saw it advertised & wanted to attend her first ball plus support a charity at the same time - she loved it!
(Tim & Sally even made sure she got home safely when the party ended)

Our sincere thanks to all who attended & a big shout out to Southern Cross Healthcare
who have sponsored both the Wellington & Auckland Balls.
