Congratulations to all finalists on their achievements providing high-quality hip fracture care.

The Golden Hip award was initiated by the Scottish Hip Fracture Audit in 2018 to promote and reward better health care for people with hip fractures. In 2022 the NZ Golden Hip awards were presented by Dr Janice Wilson, CE of New Zealand's Health Quality and Safety Commission.   After lunch, Dr Min Yee Seow, Orthogeriatrician from North Shore Hospital with some top tips on how to win the golden hip...persistence and a strong multidisciplinary team shone through as the primary take home message.

Hip Fest 2022 was NZ's 3rd annual event & it provides an opportunity for our hospital teams caring for people after a fractured hip and contributing to the ANZHFR to network, share and learn about different models of care and improvement projects happening across New Zealand.
2022's theme was “Rehab to Home” with 80 participants. It was a great day, with speakers discussing effective rehabilitation care and support - both in hospital and in the community. Two of the NZHFR committee’s consumer representatives shared their quite different experiences of care, despite having the same injury and surgery.  For the clinicians, hearing these consumer voices was very powerful and generated much discussion.

Consumer Representatives Ngarangi Naden & Caroline Miller.
